a happy mug

My coffee is often happy. And I'm happy when I drink coffee.

It's a beautiful relationship.

tag-liatelle

OK. Well. The general gist of it is this: I've been 'tagged'. With a meme. A blog meme. What does that mean? Good question.

'Tagging', from what I can gather, means mentioning someone on your blog who has to respond. I have been tagged by Huw, who was tagged by Sketches, who was tagged by Bunnyman, etc. (not quite ad infinitum but I'm sure pretty close). So here come the questions - and you'd better read this because your blog may be at the bottom...

Why do you blog? Good question. Mostly to waste time when I should be doing something else.

How long have you been blogging? My first blog entry was at 9:56am on the 15th of July 2003, which seems like quite a while ago indeedy.

Self Portrait. What? I have to draw a picture of myself?! Well, going on my wife's description of me as having "a pure face... with big bug eyes" I guess I must look something like this:

Why do readers read your blog? My blog probably looks better than it reads so maybe I have 'watchers' rather than 'readers'. Probably to waste time when they should be doing something else!

What was the last search phrase someone used to find your site? How would I go about finding out information like that? Any ideas?

Which of the entries gets unjustly too little attention? Oooh - tough one. I was surprised nobody responded to yo gabba gabba but you may have thought you were hallucinating it. I was disappointed that no one was interested in table tennis. However, I was most distressed that the trailer for Spider-Man 3 only received one comment - the only explanation I can think of is that everyone fainted when they saw it.

Your current favourite blog? My wife's .

Which blog did you read most recently? Huw's - oh foolish me!

Which feeds do you subscribe to? None. I'm not exactly sure how I do that anyway.

Which 4 blogs are you tagging with this meme and why? OK...

1) Screech - because he does indeed look like his name suggests & is one of my Relay Workers.

2) Cate - because I want her to write her 2nd blog entry, but who probably won't respond even though I've redesigned her blog. (go & leave her some encouragement/abuse)

3) Rosemary - because she probably has profound answers.

4) Theology John - because he'll be jealous of Screech otherwise!

So get on with it!

Hope I haven't bored you all too much...

these are a few of my favourite signs

Greetings mirthlings! I'm back at my desk now after a great week at UCCF Forum & a relaxing weekend with the wife.

I was looking for an excuse to blog this morning (isn't that what everyone does?) and remembered some photos I took on honeymoon in Slovenia. We saw quite a few warning signs around during our adventuring, though many were kind-of cryptic. Here are some of my favourites:

I'm guessing these signs mean:

1. DANGER! Falling People

2. No dancing near the Ikea 'Billy' bookcase

3. DANGER! Breakdancing

4. WARNING - plates and tophats

Anybody have any better ideas?

gangland in blogsville

Is there such a thing as a 'gang' of bloggers? A group of people who hang around in Blogsville, intimidating the neighbourhood & generally looking cool?

Just think how cool it'd be to be in a gang like...

...the T-Birds from Grease or...

...the Jets from West Side Story (just not as ugly) or...

...the Get-Along Gang from The Get-Along Gang (they did have a rather cool clubhouse after all).

You could have a dress code and a logo and weapons and nicknames and everything! Anyone got any ideas for a name? Hmmm...

coCo-nuts

Well, after a little peer pressure , I signed up to coComment . Not only that, but I've added a 'top commentators' box on my page (just over there <-- on the left) and even spent time modifying the CSS so that it'd match my colour scheme. I think this coComment thing may become a useful tool... despite a few teething problems! One of those problems is that sometimes

appears in my Firefox browser even when I have no new comments to check. Hmmm... anyone any ideas?!

Anyhow, if you're reading this then you should get coComment as it might actually make all of our lives in the fair city of Blogsville much easier.

That's all for now.

these are a few of my favourite things #4

Well, I just realised that I never revealed the final item in the previous "competition"... so here it is!

I'm sure that you guessed it was a kettle, but did you guess the Breville KT17 traditional stainless steel kettle? No - of course not - you had better things to do with your time.

This kettle does its job well, is easy to use, has a satisfying 'click' on & off and a clear water gauge. And it's shiney! What more could you want?

a travesty

Yesterday was Bank Holiday Monday, so I went into the city centre with my wife to meet one of our friends. After lunch we were wandering through the Bullring when... SHOCK HORROR!

The Lego shop has closed down!

Why would they do such a thing?! People of Birmingham; you once had a Lego shop - a whole shop devoted to Lego - but you took it for granted, and now it has gone. It was here:

...but now it isn't. Please weep with me.

Oh Lego shop, You were bright red and yellow,

And full of Lego; Why did you go?

[If you need a moment to reflect then you may want to go here ]

more cheese please

I've just added a few extra wedding photos to my flickr. So click the pictures below for a wedding slideshow, a honeymoon slideshow & my flickr account respectively:

(seeing Huw as my pageboy bestman certainly shouldn't be missed!)
